Linhai (Tai-chow dialect: Ling-he; Simplified Chinese: 临海, Traditional Chinese: 臨海, Pinyin: línhǎi) is a city in Taizhou prefecture, Zhejiang Province situated on the banks of the Lin River in Eastern China. Its wall attracts many tourists. According to the tickets for access to the wall, construction of the wall, originally over 6000 meters long, began in the Jin Dynasty (265-420) and was not finished until the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties. The northern portion, along a high ridge, and the western & southern portions, along the Lin River, still exist and are in good condition. Taizhou (Chinese: 台州; pinyin: Tāizhōu, not Táizhōu; Taizhou dialect: T'e-tsiu), formerly T'ai-chow is an emerging city along the eastern coast of Zhejiang province, People's Republic of China facing the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean to the east. It lies 300 kilometres (190 mi) due south of Shanghai and is 230 kilometres (140 mi) from Hangzhou, the provincial capital. Administratively, it is a prefecture-level city and is bordered by Ningbo to the north, Wenzhou to the south, and Shaoxing, Jinhua, Lishui to the northwest, west and southwest respectively.
